PROVO, Utah – Lizzy Braby scored two goals to lift the BYU women's soccer team to a 3-2 win over the Alumni Tuesday night at South Field in the final exhibition game.

The Cougars took an early 1-0 lead when Braby scored 34 seconds into the match after a deflected ball bounced to her at the top of the box, placing her shot just left of the keeper.

Freshman Bella Folino found the back of the net in the 19th minute after Rachel Bingham Lyman crossed the ball into the box and Cameron Tucker one-touched the ball to Folino, who turned and placed the ball into the bottom left of the goal.

Braby scored her second goal in an identical way in the 29th minute when Mikayla Colohan had a shot blocked and it fell to Braby's feet for a one-touch shot, giving BYU a 3-0 advantage going into halftime.

The Alumni answered with a goal in the 51st minute when Madie Mathews found the top right corner of the goal from outside of the 18-yard box, making the score 3-1.

In the 69th minute, Dana Cusick hit a long shot that bounced off of the crossbar and into the goal to bring the Alumni within one, 3-2.

The Cougars outshot the Alumni 27-22. Braby led all shooters with seven shots, while Colohan and Tucker tallied five apiece.

The Cougars open regular season play on Friday, Aug. 17, at Cal State Fullerton. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PDT at Titan Stadium. Audio broadcasts can be heard on BYU Radio (Sirius XM 143) and ESPN 960 AM.
