PROVO, Utah – Following the Cougars 5-1 victory against Utah Saturday, BYU women’s soccer moved up three spots to No. 7 in the TopDrawerSoccer rankings on Monday.

The Cougars (1-0-0) started the spring season ranked 10th, before defeating the Utes (0-1-0) at the Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman. Cameron Tucker led the Cougars in scoring with the first hat trick of her collegiate career, recording goals in the fifth, 37th and 74th minutes.

The first National Soccer Coaches Association Poll will be released on Feb. 23rd, following the first couple weeks of play.

BYU finished the 2019 season ranked No. 5 in the country with a record of 21-1-1. The only loss of the year came in the NCAA quarterfinals to eventual national champion and current No. 1 ranked Stanford.

The Cougars head west this weekend to face two Pac 12 teams in No. 3 UCLA on Saturday and No. 6 USC on Monday. Both are ranked just ahead of the Cougars in the TopDrawerSoccer poll.

UCLA is 1-0-0 on the year after defeating WCC foe Pepperdine 3-0 in Malibu on Sunday. Bruin senior Marley Canales assisted on all three of the Bruin goals. USC will open its 2021 season against BYU.
