THE DONS. San Francisco is 5-6-2 on the season, and undefeated at home (4-0-1). The Dons are coming off a 2-0 loss on the road to Santa Clara last weekend. However, the Dons beat Santa Clara 2-0 earlier in their season as the first matchup between the two schools took place on Sept. 25 in what was technically a non-conference matchup. The Dons utilized a strong defensive effort and late-game offense to knock off the reigning National Champions at home. Both goals transpired in the second half, with the first goal by Jamesen Ward in the 56th minute and the second by Marissa Vasquez in the 71st minute. It was USF's first-ever win at home over the Broncos and the second time in program history the Dons defeated Santa Clara. The Dons’ only win during conference play this season was a 1-0 victory against LMU, with a game-winning goal coming from freshman midfielder Elle Soleau only 21 seconds into the match. The Dons have played three ranked teams this season: No. 11 Stanford, No. 19 Santa Clara and No. 24 SMU.
COUGARS VS. DONS. Overall, the Cougars have a winning record against the Dons. BYU is 9-2-0 all-time. The earliest matchup between the two teams took place in 2006, before BYU joined the WCC, and the Cougars won 1-0. Last season, the Cougars defeated the Dons 3-2 in Herriman, Utah with goals from Colohan, Makaylie Moore and Bella Folino.
