PROVO, Utah - The No. 17/8 BYU women's soccer team finishes up its six-game home swing with two this week against Cal Poly on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. MDT and No. 23 Washington on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. MDT.

The Cougars are now 6-1 on the year and looking to extend their four-game winning streak after two more wins last week over Texas and then-No. 6 Penn State. BYU has recorded double-digit shots in its last six games. 

Freshman Michele Murphy leads the team with four goals while teammate Jaiden Thornock leads all players with 26 shots. 15 other players have recorded at least one shot and five other are recording shots in double digits. 

Goalkeeper Erica Owens has tallied 581 minutes in front of the net and made 24 saves.

OPPONENTS
The Mustangs come to Provo with a 3-3-1 record and on a three-game losing streak with their most recent loss coming to Oregon State on a 3-1 final.

Christina Farrington leads the squad with three goals and nine shots. Teammates Sara Epps and Sara Lancaster have also recorded nine shots on the year.

Cal Poly was chosen sixth in the Big West 2012 Preseason Poll with junior Cici Kobinski named to the Preseason All-Big West Team. Kobinski was the fourth-leading scorer on last year’s squad. Teammate sophomore Lancaster returns as the top scorer from 2011 with eight goals.

The No. 23 University of Washington comes to Provo with an impressive 7-0 record and its most recent win coming against 2010 NCAA tournament champion Notre Dame.

Lindsay Elston leads all players with five goals and 22 shots. Ten other players on the Husky roster have recorded at least one shot this season. The Huskies are out-scoring their opponents 16-2 so far this year.

The Washington Huskies were chosen fifth in this year’s Pac-12 Preseason Poll after a 7-8-5 record in 2011.
