OVERLAND PARK, Kas. - Senior Lindsi Lisonbee Cutshall of the BYU women's soccer team has been chosen as one of 30 NCAA women's soccer athletes to be a candidate for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award. Cutshall is the only candidate to represent the West Coast Conference.

This award goes to athletes who excel on and off the field. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition.

Cutshall anchors a BYU defense that is currently holding it's opponents to an average of just 8.3 shots per game. The Park City, Utah, native is consistently able to contribute quality stats, even as a defender and this season she's tallied two goals, an assist and 13 shots. Cutshall is a Recreation Management & Youth Leadership major with an emphasis in Leisure Services Management.

Cutshall joins the following BYU athletes who have been candidates or finalists for the award: Katie Larkin (WSOC, 2008); Jessica Carter (WSOC, 2008); Matt Reynolds (FB, 2011); Paige Affleck (SB, 2011); and Jimmer Fredette (MBB, 2010-11).

The 2012 candidate class includes 14 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Americans from last season. More than half of the 60 have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better. Seven of the candidates were recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America as 2011 Capital One Academic All-Americans. Five student-athletes participated in the 2011 NCAA Men's or Women's College Cups®

The 30 women's candidates will be narrowed down to 10 finalists during the regular season, and then those 10 names will be voted on nationwide by media, fans and coaches.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of senior student-athletes. The award program is designed exclusively for college seniors who are utilizing their complete athletic eligibility, remaining committed to their university and pursuing the many rewards a senior season can bring.
