#4 BYU finishes regular season on the road

PROVO, Utah - The No. 4 BYU women's soccer team finishes the regular season this week with two games on the road at Loyola Marymount on Thursday at 3 p.m. PDT and at No. 22 Pepperdine on Saturday at 1 p.m. PDT.

The Cougars are unbeaten through their last 15 games, are currently in first place in the West Coast Conference standings and moved up in the NSCAA Division I rankings to #4 this week - the team's highest ranking ever. 

BYU has taken double-digit shots in its last 17 games while out-scoring its opponents 44-10 on the year and its defense holding opponents to an average of just 7.7 shots per game. 

Freshman Michele Murphy and senior Jessica Ringwood lead all players in the goal category with eight each. In the assist category, senior Carlee Payne Holmoe is leading with nine and in the shot category, Ringwood leads with 65. 

BYU goalkeeper Erica Owens has tallied 1,591 minutes in front of the net this season while making 52 saves. 

Opponents
The Loyola Marymount Lions host BYU with a 9-7-2 overall record and 3-4 record through conference play.

The Lions lost their last two games on the road to Gonzaga and Portland, but were on a three-game winning streak before that.

Darien Pyka and Tawni Martino lead the team with four goals apiece while teammate Brianne Medved leads with 31 shots.

The No. 22 Pepperdine Waves host BYU with a 13-5 season record and 4-2 record through conference action. The Waves are third in the West Coast Conference standings, behind BYU and Portland.

The Waves have won seven of their last nine games. After each of Pepperdine’s five losses this season, the team has responded with a shutout victory and have outscored their opponents 14-0 in those shutout contests.

Amanda LeCave leads the Waves with 10 goals, followed by teammate Anisa Guajardo’s eight. Lynn Williams leads with 86 shots.

Pepperdine is out-shooting its opponents 282-227 this season and averaging 15.7 shots per game themselves.
