PROVO -- BYU (41-18, 16-4) wrapped up its regular season with a 5-3 win over San Diego State (32-24, 8-12).
The Cougars finished their third consecutive 40-win season by winning 26 of their final 30 games. BYU's victory over SDSU Saturday afternoon gave the team an impressive 15-1 home record this season.
"It's nice to win on senior day," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "Everyday we knew we had to be on top of our game. I expected them to come out a lot stronger and play the way they know how to play today."
Junior Emi Snow took a 1-0 pitch over the centerfield wall in the bottom of the second to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. The home run was Snow's 16th of the year, doubling her previous career total of eight in this season alone.
In the third it was Andrea Ramirez going to the exact spot as Snow, this time for a three-RBI double making it a 4-0 game heading into the fourth. The Aztecs began a comeback in that fourth inning behind three runs with two outs. Senior Cortney Nix-Clark prevented any more damage from being done by catching Brittany Knudsen stealing second to end the inning.
BYU created some breathing room in the sixth when Tracee Hoch hit a double to center field that allowed pinch-runner Jana Anderson to come home all the way from first base for the 5-3 final.
Freshman Christie Zinanti recorded her 19th win of the year behind four innings of play, while Christina Gwyn picked up the save. Each pitcher struck out three on the day.
Having clinched the Mountain West Conference title, the Cougars receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament and will await the announcement of who their regional opponent will be and where they will play. The selection will be made Sunday between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. (MST) on ESPNews.

PROVO -- After seeing its 16-game winning streak come to an end last weekend, BYU (37-17, 13-3) will try to improve on another streak.
The Cougars are 12-0 at home and finish out the regular season this week with four straight games at Gail Miller Field. The team will attempt to do something that has never been done in the program's history and that is to finish a season with an undefeated home record.
"The fact that we're undefeated at home is nice," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "But, we just focus on getting better every day and what we have to do to be successful in our game. Hopefully at the end we'll be undefeated at home, but we need to focus on one game at a time in order to have a chance to get there."
BYU is also holding on to a three-game lead over UNLV in the Mountain West Conference standings. Any combination of two Cougar wins and Rebel losses (in conference-play) this week will ensure BYU's first conference championship since 2005 and third overall.
First, BYU will look to complete its season sweep of cross-town rival Utah Valley State (23-28) in Orem on Tuesday. The first pitch will be thrown at 4 p.m. (MST).
Thursday the Cougars begin their final home stand in a double-header against UNLV (35-25, 10-6) at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The first game will be shown live on CSTV, while both games will be available through live stats and/or live video. The Rebels swept BYU in Las Vegas last month.
BYU hosts San Diego State (30-22, 6-10) on Friday and Saturday to end the regular season. Friday's game will begin at 6 p.m., and Saturday's contest is slated for a 2 p.m. start time. Both games will be available via live stats and live video.
Saturday will be Senior Day at Gail Miller Field. A ceremony honoring the Cougars' four departing seniors will be held directly after the game.
