KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – BYU jumped two spots in the final round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship Tuesday, thanks in large part to freshman Annick Haczkiewicz, but still fell short of a top 10 finish.

BYU finished 13th out of 17 teams with a final score of 909. Kent State, Middle Tennessee and UNC Charlotte finished first, second and third, respectively, with scores of 870, 875 and 876.

"Annick's comeback today was super positive," BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. "We know exactly what to work on and now we need to get to it."

Haczkiewicz was 90th after the first two rounds on Monday, but rose to 81st after scoring a team-best low of 72 (+1) in the final round. Rose Huang finished at the top of the squad tied for 23rd overall, with a solid final round of 73 (+2). Naomi Soifua was next with a 75 (+4) in the final round to put her at 31st, while Allysha Mae Mateo came in at 65th with a 79 (+8) over the final 18 holes. Anna Kennedy rounded out the Cougars' squad with an 82 (+11) in the final round to put her at 87th for the tournament.

The Cougars have a quick turnaround with the Coeur d'Alene Resort Collegiate Invitational in Spokane, Washington, Sep. 27-28. Live stats and the leaderboard can be found at GolfStat.com.
