UPDATED: BYU softball to host in-state opponents Weber State and Southern Utah

PROVO, Utah – After winning its ninth game in a row, BYU softball faces Weber State and Southern Utah University for three nonconference home games.
The Cougars (29-8, 6-0 West Coast Conference) swept Pacific in WCC action last weekend and prepares for a game Tuesday against Weber State at 6 p.m. MDT. The team then hosts SUU Thursday for a doubleheader with game times at 4 and 6 p.m.
Junior third baseman Coco Tauali’i shored up the BYU defense with her strong arm while providing a flurry of offense with four home runs and nine RBI in the series against the Tigers.
On the season, Gordy Bravo is leading the Cougars at the plate with a .459 batting average to go along with two home runs and 22 RBI. Senior outfielder Lacey Hofstedt is second on the team with a .454 average at the plate.
Leading the team in run production are sophomores Ashley Thompson and Mercedes O’Connor with 33 RBI each. Sydney Broderick has the second most on the team with 31.
Sophomore ace McKenna Bull is No. 5 all-time in career wins at BYU with 41 and is No. 4 for single season wins in school history with her 25-5 mark. She has a 1.95 ERA this season while striking out 170 and allowing opposing batters a .219 average. She is in the top five nationally in victories this season.

Weber State (Tues. 6 p.m. MDT | BYUtv | BYU Radio)
The Wildcats have put together a strong record in conference play with a 9-3 mark and a 28-14 record overall. Aubrey Whitmer leads the team with her .422 average from the plate with two home runs and 28 RBI. Alyson Kulp leads the team in home runs with five on the season to go along with 34 RBI and a .381 batting average. Weber State has four pitchers with winning records on staff led by MaCauley Flint with 9-5 record and a 2.61 ERA in 85.2 innings pitched.
Southern Utah (Thurs. 4 & 6 p.m. MDT | BYUtv | BYU Radio for game two)
The Thunderbirds are led at the plate by Sara Park’s batting average of .344 while Katilin Williams leads the team in home runs (4) and RBI (13). Pitcher Katie Greenberg (5-9, 6.07 ERA) has seen the most time in the circle with 72.2 innings pitched and Hanna Wynn (3-4, 5.21 ERA) is not far behind with 65.2 innings.
