Hofstedt named to Capital One Academic All-District 8

PROVO, Utah – BYU senior outfielder Lacey Hofstedt was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 8 First Team Thursday.

Hofstedt, a Folsom, California native, is one of 12 players to earn the honor, achieving a 3.41 GPA while pursuing post baccalaureate studies after graduating with her degree in exercise science.

As the lone senior starter for the Cougars, she has recorded a career-high .439 batting average for the 40th best in the nation while also hitting .514 in West Coast Conference play.

She has also contributed with career highs in runs batted in (14) and runs scored (34) in addition to hits (61). She holds the BYU career record for stolen bases with 77 and the single-season record with 25.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
