Six BYU softball players receive WCC academic honors
PROVO, Utah – Six BYU softball players collected academic honors as the West Coast Conference announced its 2014-15 Commissioner’s Honor Roll Monday.
Pitcher Arianna Paulson, second baseman Lauren Bell, first baseman/pitcher Ashley Thompson, utility player McKenzie St. Clair, third baseman Coco Tauali’i and outfielder Lacey Hofstedt were all honored for their academic performance for the past school year.
Paulson, the pitcher out of Payson, Arizona, had the third-highest GPA among qualifying Cougar athletes with a 3.95 in Exercise Science while earning the Gold Honor.
Recognized for Silver Honors were sophomores Bell and Thompson. Fellow sophomore St. Clair and junior Tauali’i received Bronze Honors along with senior Lacey Hofstedt, who also received Capital One All-America third team honors. She became the first BYU student-athlete since 2012 and the third Cougar softball player ever to earn Academic All-America.
Honor roll honorees lettered for their team, earned a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher and averaged 12 credit hours.
