Cougars head to Logan for final in-state game of the year
PROVO, Utah – Gearing up for its final week of regular season games, BYU softball will head to Logan, Utah to face Utah State on Tuesday for the final in-state game of the year.
BYU (33-18, 10-3 West Coast Conference) is coming off of a series sweep of conference foe Santa Clara over the weekend. The Cougars are in first place in the WCC and have won WCC Player of the Week for three-straight weeks, Ashley Thompson winning twice and Lauren Bell taking the honor once. McKenna Bull won her sixth WCC Pitcher of the Week honor after last weekend as well.
Utah State (25-23, 11-10 Mountain West Conference) is coming off of a 1-2 series loss at San Diego State last weekend. In the Aggies’ one win, they blanked the Aztecs 3-0.
Back on April 20, BYU hosted Utah State at Gail Miller Field for the first game. The Cougars took the win 4-1 behind 11 strikeouts from Bull. BYU leads the overall series 35-2 over Utah State, with a 14-1 record in Logan, Utah.
The Cougars are 5-2 against other Utah schools this season, most recently dropping a contest at Southern Utah.
