No. 20 BYU hosts Pacific this weekend

PROVO, Utah – Continuing West Coast Conference play, No. 20 BYU softball hosts Pacific this weekend at Gail Miller Field, with a doubleheader on Friday and the series finale on Saturday.

BYU Game Notes

BYU (28-10, 3-0 WCC) has never lost to Pacific (18-21, 1-2 WCC) since joining the conference back in 2014. Last year, the Cougars swept the series in Stockton, California.

The doubleheader on Friday will start at 5 p.m. MDT while Saturday’s contest starts at 1 p.m. MDT. All games will be televised live on BYUtv. Live stats will also be available on the BYU softball schedule page.

BYU Storylines

  • In the win at Southern Utah on Tuesday, BYU blasted four home runs, the most in a game since 2015. Just this year, Caitlyn Larsen Alldredge, Libby Sugg and Ashley Thompson have all had games with two home runs apiece.
  • The Cougars are ranked for the seventh week of the season, extending the streak for the most a BYU softball team has been ranked in a single season. They moved up in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll at No. 20, the highest BYU has been ranked in 2017. In the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25, the Cougars moved up to No. 20. In both polls, the ranking is the highest BYU has ever been ranked in the respective poll. Additionally, thanks to the tough schedule before conference play, BYU is No. 16 in the NCAA in RPI.
  • In the NCAA, BYU ranks No. 19 in fielding percentage. Individually, McKenna Bullis in the top 20 in three different categories: No. 6 in victories, No. 9 in shutouts and No. 20 in strikeouts.
