LOUISVILLE, Ky. – BYU softball players Arissa Paulson and Rylee Jensen were named to the All-Pacific Region First Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association while Lexi Tarrow made the third team, the NFCA announced Thursday.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for the 2019 NFCA Division I All-America squads.

Named WCC Pitcher of the Year, Paulson earned her first NFCA All-Region First Team selection. After redshirting her sophomore season due to a season-ending injury, the right handed pitcher became one of BYU’s aces in 2019. Also named All-WCC First Team, Paulson has pitched 153.1 innings with 114 strikeouts with a 15-9 record.

Jensen made a big impact for the Cougars this season, finishing the regular season leading the team in batting average (.383), runs (41), hits (64), doubles (14), slugging percentage (.659) and home runs (10). She was named All-WCC First team and won NFCA National Player of the Week after batting .900 through four games. This is her third consecutive NFCA All-Region award, being named third team for the past two seasons.

Tarrow, who was named WCC Player of the Year, was named to the Third Team after leading the WCC in batting average in league games. It was the right fielder's first selection to an All-Region Team.

The 2019 NFCA Division I All-America teams will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, May 29, via NFCA.org.
