Emi Snow Hits Walk-Off Home Run

PROVO -- Junior Emi Snow hit two home runs including the game-winner, leading BYU (17-14) to a 3-1 victory over Idaho State (4-27) in the Cougars' home-opener.
"We were focused for most of the game," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "It was nice to get the win off of a walk-off home run."
Snow broke a 0-0 tie in the third inning with a one-out solo home run. The swat to left field was Snow's seventh of the year. The Bengals squared things up in the fourth with an RBI-single to center field from freshman Whitney Nix.
BYU threatened with runners in scoring position in the sixth, but neither Jodi Norton nor pinch-hitter Shaylyn Jenkins could get a timely hit. The Cougars would get another chance in the bottom of the seventh. Senior Cortney Nix-Clark hit a double to center field, setting the stage for Snow's walk-off two-run shot to right field.
"I feel like I'm getting better," Snow said. "We've been talking about scoring runners, and it was good for me to contribute."
Snow finished the night 2-for-3 with three RBI. With the win freshman Christie Zinanti improved to 6-5, allowing one run on just two hits. Zinanti also fanned five batters.
BYU and Idaho State meet again at Gail Miller Field Saturday at noon.
