1977 BYU Hall of Fame

Dick began his basketball career at West High School in Salt Lake City where he was named to the All-State team. He also won the Hale Award as the outstanding high school athlete.

At BYU, Dick averaged 25 points per game and was selected as an All-Conference and All-American guard. He helped his team to the 1966 NIT Tournament Championship and was given the BYU Outstanding Basketball Player of the Year Award. He played professional basketball with the Utah Stars of the ABA, winning the ABA Championship in 1971.

Dick’s academic career was as distinguished as his athletic ventures. Virtually a straight “A” student, he was named a Scholastic All-American, and received an NCAA scholarship award for postgraduate work. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in psychology from BYU in 1966 and 1970, and in 1976 he earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Utah.
