Collinsworth earns second WCC Player of the Week honor

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – BYU junior guard Kyle Collinsworth has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week after registering a triple-double, a double-double and leading the Cougars to wins over UMass and Portland. This is his second honor of the season as he was also named WCC Player of the Week on Dec. 6.

Collinsworth averaged 17.3 points, 11.0 boards, 6.0 assists and 2.0 steals as BYU went 2-1 in games against UMass, Gonzaga and Portland last week.

Against the Zags, he recorded his second triple-double (13 points, 10 boards, 10 assits) of the season and became the BYU career leader in triple-doubles, as well as the only player in the nation with two this season.

Against Portland, BYU’s first conference win of the season, Collinsworth netted 21 points and added 8 boards, 4 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. In the UMass game he had a double-double with 18 points, a season-high 15 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals.

Collinsworth led BYU in rebounds all three games and led the team in assists against UMass and Gonzaga.​
