BYU Game Notes

BYU basketball will conclude the regular season by hosting San Diego Saturday at 7 p.m. MST in the Marriott Center. BYU is 18-12 overall and 10-5 in league play while the Toreros are 18-12 and 7-8.

Prior to Saturday's game, BYU will honor seniors Luke Worthington and McKay Cannon. Worthington is a four-year letterwinner, a two-time team captain who has started 62 games in his career. Cannon is a two-year letterwinner who began his career at Weber State. He has started 16 games this season, including the last 15-straight.

Saturday's game will be televised live on BYUtv. The game with also be broadcast live on the BYU Sports Network on BYU Radio – Sirius XM 143/89.1 FM HD2 and KSL 102.7 FM/1160 AM.

BYU Storylines

  • With one game to play, BYU is third in the West Coast Conference standings at 10-5, one game ahead of 9-6 San Francisco. With a Cougar win or a Don loss on Saturday, BYU will secure the three seed heading into the West Coast Conference Championships at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
  • Since joining the West Coast Conference in 2011-12, BYU is 13-5 vs. San Diego, including 7-0 in the Marriott Center. Last season, the Cougars defeated the Toreros 74-58 in Provo behind a 24-point effort from TJ Haws.
  • Freshman Gavin Baxter has totaled 32 blocks in 29 games played, ranking him fifth in total blocks and fourth in blocks per game by a BYU freshman. He has emerged as a defensive presence over the last 12 games, averaging 2.0 blocks per game during that stretch.
