Santa Clara Game Notes

Owners of a six-game win streak and ranked for the first time since 2010-11, No. 23 BYU men's basketball hosts West Coast Conference foe Santa Clara Thursday at 7 p.m. MST in the Marriott Center. The Cougars are currently second in the WCC standings at 10-3, 1.5 games ahead of Saint Mary's (8-4) and two games ahead of Pacific (8-5).

BYU's game against Santa Clara will be televised live on CBS Sports Network. The radio broadcast will be available live on the BYU Sports Network, BYU Radio – Sirius XM 143/89.1 FM HD2 and KSL 102.7 FM/1160 AM.

BYU Storylines

  • BYU entered the AP Top 25 this week at No. 23, the first time the Cougars have been ranked since 2010-11. Currently on a six-game winning streak, BYU is also receiving votes and is two spots outside the USA Today Coaches Poll.
  • BYU has won three games this season on game-winning shots with 12 seconds or less on the clock. The first came at Houston when TJ Haws hit a buzzer-beating fadeaway jump shot for a 72-71 win. The second was a Haws 3-pointer from the top of the key with just under nine seconds on the clock to beat Saint Mary’s 81-79. The third came at San Diego when Yoeli Childs finished an alley-oop dunk off a pass from Haws with 11.1 second left for a 72-71 win.
  • The Cougars have made 304 3-point field goals through 28 games, just 26 from tying the record of 330 set in 2015-16 in 37 games. The current squad is making 10.9 per game compared to the record of 8.9 set in 2015-16.
