BYU jumps into AP Top 25, ranked No. 18
PROVO, Utah – Following a win over No. 12 Oregon and starting the season 4-0, BYU men’s basketball is ranked No. 18 in the Associated Press Top 25 released on Monday morning.
The Cougars enter the poll for the first time this season after 30-point wins over Oregon and Central Methodist, just behind St. Bonaventure (5-0) and Arizona (5-0).
Gonzaga (4-0) and UCLA (4-0) remained 1-2 in the rankings before meeting on Tuesday evening in Las Vegas, Nev. Purdue (5-0) jumped three spots to third with Kansas (3-0) dropping a spot to fourth. Duke (5-0), Baylor (4-0), Villanova (3-2), Texas (3-1), Memphis (4-0) and Kentucky (3-1) round out the Top 10.
BYU is ranked in the AP Poll in the month of November for just the 12th time in program history dating back to 1948-49.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday when they host Texas Southern at the Marriott Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
