Emery, Anderson, Hartsock Named Academic All-MWC
PROVO, Utah – Jackson Emery, James Anderson and Noah Hartsock of the BYU men’s basketball team were named to the Mountain West Conference Academic All-Conference squad Monday.
Emery has claimed MWC Academic All-Conference honors all four years of his career while Anderson was named to the team for the third time. Anderson owns a 3.12 GPA in information systems while Emery has a 3.11 GPA in finance and Hartsock a 3.01 GPA in psychology.
In 2010-11, Emery was named to the All-MWC Second Team and the MWC All-Defensive Team. The MWC Defensive Player of the Year, Emery finished his career as the BYU and conference leader in steals while also breaking the school and conference records for steals in a season with 101 in 2010-11. A team captain, Emery averaged 12.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.7 steals per game while shooting .427 from the field, .361 from three and .829 from the free throw line.
Anderson, from Page, Ariz., played in 31 games, totaling 41 rebounds and 35 rebounds on the season while playing 7.6 minutes per game.
A Bartlesville, Okla., native, Hartsock started 36 games, averaging 8.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting .498 from the field, .433 from three and .828 from the free throw line. The junior forward led BYU and was third in the conference with 61 blocks on the season, earning All-Conference honorable mention.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
